After an intense weekend of World Cup qualifiers, Yaya Tour (Ivory Coast) and Seydou Keita (Mali) returned to Barcelona from their respective countries at the beginning of this week, as well as a surprise guest!
Andres Iniesta, Barca midfielder and my favorite player (tied with Xavi) was given the medical thumbs up to play in Barcelona's game against Getafe this weekend. Iniesta has recovered from a pulled groin that he sustained during the Champions League final in May. He's been out of action since then, and has finally received medical clearance to train and play.
I am quite excited about this. I didn't even realize that Iniesta hasn't played since the CL final, though I'm not sure how I didn't. Iniesta missed the Confederations Cup with the Spanish national team, as well as the World Cup qualifiers that have taken place since his injury. This will also be his first game with Barcelona since the injury.
I'm happy to see Iniesta healthy again. We'll need him in the midfield with Xavi. The two make the most dangerous midfield combination in soccer.
