According to several Spanish newspaper, Barcelona is interested in adding Manchester City striker Robinho to their roster sometime soon. Robinho is a very talented striker despite a somewhat spotty record at Man City, so it's natural that Barcelona would have their eye on him to reinforce their front line.
However, here's the catch. Man City doesn't want to get rid of Robinho unless they're getting something in return, much like the trade Barca had with Inter this summer. The only player Man City will accept as a trade for Robinho is Messi. He's the best player in the world, and also one of the most expensive. But since Man City is currently the richest team in the world, money isn't really an option for them.
I just have to say I really hope this never happens. Of course I'd love to see Robinho at Barcelona, but NEVER at the cost of losing Messi. Man City is to me, at team a player goes to if they're only interested in money. Leo Messi has always appeared to put money and his personal ambitions below those of his club and country. He has talked about how he is forever indebted to Barcelona because they provided the medical treatment he needed as a young kid in order to grow properly. He came up through their youth league, and he is a product of Barcelona.
Here's how badly Barcelona wants Robinho: they'd be willing to offer Henry in exchange for Robinho. This better not happen either. I do not want to see Henry leave until his contract is up (at which time, apparently, he wants to finish his career in the US. Gross.).
I've talked before about how I have no respect for the players that go to Manchester City because it truly seems like they are motivated by the exorbitant sums they are offered. And while I understand that Man City wants to become a top contender in England, I think they should focus on their youth league and build a team that way, instead of trying to compile a team of superstars that might totally backfire.
