Group A
Bordeaux 1-0 Maccabi Haifa
Bordeaux clinched this win relatively late, with an 83rd minute goal by Michael Ciani. Bordeaux is now tied with Bayern Munich in points while Maccabi is still winless.
Juventus 0-0 Bayern Munich
Neither team was able to break through and pull off a win. This is the 2nd tie for Juve, putting them in 3rd place with 2 points. Bayern is currently leading the table with 4 points after defeating Maccabi Haifa last week.
Group B
CSKA Moscow 2-1 Besiktas
Moscow netted two goals (Alan Dzagoev 7, and Milos Krasic 61) before Besiktas' Ekrem Daq responded in the 90th minute. Moscow joins VfL Wolfsburg with 3 points while Besiktas remains winless.
Manchester United 2-1 VfL Wolfsburg
Michael Carrick led United to a late win after Ryan Giggs leveled Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko's 55th minute strike. Carrick scored late, with only 12 minutes before final time. United lead the table with 6 points closely by Wolfsburg.
Group C
AC Milan 1-0 FC Zurich
Wow. I don't really have a reaction for this. AC Milan has been having an absolutely terrible season, and it was epitomized by their loss today. Hannu Tihinen netted his shot within 10 minutes of the starting whistle and AC was never able to counter. AC is still right behind Real Madrid thanks to their win last week, but they clearly need to reassess some things tactically.
Real Madrid 3-0 Olympique Marseille
This was the most heartbreaking game I've seen in a while. Marseille is the most formidable match that this new Madrid has seen since the beginning of the season. Kaka, Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema had no answer to Marseille's impeccable defense and got almost no shots off during the first half (with the exception of a sweet Guti bicycle that went just over the crossbar). None other than CR9 started the heartbreak with a goal 58 minutes in, and the icing on the cake was a red card awarded to Marseille's Souleymane Diawara for a late slide tackle against The Machine in the box. Kaka scored the ensuing penalty kick and Ronaldo added salt to Marseilles' wounds with a second goal just 3 minutes later. Credit has to be given to Marseille's goalie Steve Mandanda, who had some amazing stops of point-blank shots. Real is leading the table while Marseille remains winless despite having a team that is clearly superior to the Spaniards.
Group D
FC Porto 2-0 Atletico Madrid
No surprises here- the Portuguese team defeated Atletico, who have had a horrendous season so far, despite having two amazing strikers (Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan). Two late goals by Radamel Falacao (75) and Rolando (82) clinched the game for Porto, which shows that Atletico at least posed some sort of a fight for 3/4 of the game. Porto is in 2nd place behind Chelsea and Atletico are still winless.
Chelsea 1-0 Apoel Nicosia
Nicolas Anelka (ew) won the game for Chelsea with a goal in the 18th minute and Apoel never responded. Chelsea sit comfortable at the top of the table followed by FC Porto.
