Daddy Perez Gives Children His "Rules of Conduct"

Wow. Woooww.

Florentino Perez, head coach of Real Madrid (ew) has given his kids a rulebook with eight rules of conduct for playing on his team. Because, you know, when a coach is surrounded by the immense number of children that he is, one has to take such drastic measures.

Really, though? A rules of conduct book? I mean, I was aware that his team is quite literally one big baby (Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo, Van der Vaart, Casillas), but they are also young men (i use that term loosely since most behave like 5-yr-olds) ranging in age from 23-29.

Some of the rules include: Punctuality in arriving to an event, respect to the hierarchies of the, encourage a culture of hard work, going out at night is prohibited, protect the Madrid jersey, and collaborate with the club and president." There are eight in all, and one has to wonder what the others might include- floss after you brush? Clean your place when you finish eating?

According to the article, during Perez's last bout as head coach at Madrid, which ended in '06 when he was fired, he had a real problem with his players getting out of hand, which sort of explains the rule book. However, this is also the guy responsible for bringing back the era of Los Galacticos, what the media, and I guess the public as well, calls the periods at Madrid when hundreds of millions of dollars are spent to bring in the best players from around the world.

When these players are Cristiano Ronaldo and the like, one has to wonder if a Rules of Conduct book isn't a bad idea. Ronaldo crashed his Ferarri in a tunnel in January, Sergio Ramos is pulling his usual antics, not practicing with the team and being sulky, Casillas is blaming his goalkeeping on engineers of soccer balls, you get what I'm saying.

It's really sad that full-grown men (again, the term is is used quite loosely) need this sort of looking-after, like Perez is their schoolteacher or their mother.
