According to the Spanish newspaper Marca,Ibrahimovic has suffered an injury to his right knee. The injury is said to be "not serious," but he'll probably miss the World Cup qualifier with Sweden against Hungary this Saturday. X-rays are being taken today to definitively decide the status of the player, but the team's doctor, Anders Valentin, expresses hope that the Swede will be able to participate in the qualifier.
I didn't think Ibrahimovic was even involved in the game enough to get injured. How did this happen? Maybe it happened during the diving header that resulted in his goal? I don't know. I'm sure he's really upset about possibly getting pulled from the Hungary game, so I wish him a speedy recovery.
In other injury news, my husband-to-be, Bojan Krkic, is definitely out for 15-20 days with a muscle injury in his right leg. I am PISSED OFF. He had a more than stellar preseason along with Pedro and Jeffren, two other "junior" players, and he got to START the opening game of La Liga. This is huge stuff. Guardiola was giving him his time to shine, and he most definitely hit the ground running (no pun intended...I just realized I did that). He scored a gorgeous goal and had multiple other opportunities to meet the back of the net before and after. Instead, some jerk (no offense, I'm sure he's a good person) from Sporting has to go and mess him up. Now we go back to Messi, Ibrahimovic, and Henry running the show.
This is not something I have a problem with since they're three of the best strikers in the world playing for the same team. They'll do great things for Barca and I love watching them work together and score beautiful goals. I just wish Bojan's chances were threatened by something he could control, as opposed to an injury that he had no control over. Oh well. Hopefully in 3 weeks I'll be reporting that he's starting yet again and that he recovered well.
As reported previously, Maxwell's injury was minimal. He is actively practicing with the team already.
