Perusing the newspapers this morning, I was reminded that there is a HUGE game taking place this weekend. HUGE! And unless you live under a rock, you'll know what game I'm referring to. But let's say for all intents and purposes you have no idea what I'm talking about. Argentina and Brazil are playing each other THIS SATURDAY in a World Cup qualifying match! This is basically the only game I'd be interested in watching as far as WC qualifiers go, besides any game Spain plays in, but that's not the point.
The point is that the game is not showing up on ESPN360, the ESPN streaming site that allows you to watch games live and then replay them as often as you want! If it's not on ESPN360, chances are it's not going to be shown on ESPN or ESPN2. What WC qualifiers are cluttering the space on 360 where Argentina vs Brazil should be, you ask? Scotland vs Macedonia and US vs El Salvador! There is no way in this world that a game featuring the best striker in the world coached by the former best striker in the world playing against the #1 ranked TEAM in the world is being pushed aside for Scotland and the United States. It's absolutely ridiculous!
So I sent in a nice little letter to ESPN360, politely expressing my dissatisfaction that this monumental game is not going to be aired. I'm not sure what kind of response I'll get, but I surely hope I'm not the only person sending on a request to air the game. I've seen Argentina play once, against the US national team. The result was a tie, which devastated me because at the time Argentina was ranked #1 in the world. Messi's heart was clearly not in the game and Tevez didn't even make an appearance. I would like to see Argentina play a game that I know they are motivated to win, because they will be playing one of their biggest rivals.
Whether or not I get to see the game, I will follow in any way I can. No matter what the outcome, though, I will be happy because Dani Alves of Barcelona is a Brazilian international, as well as Robinho, my younger brother's favorite player. As well, Messi, the best player in the world, is a native of Argentina. Good luck to both teams, I'll be thinking of you on Saturday.
UPDATE: I started a Customer Service Chat with someone from ESPN and they signed out on me before answering my question. So I guess I'm supposed to assume the game isn't available. So now all I have to look forward to is Virginia Tech vs Bama. Go Hokies!
