I Wish I was Spanish

Like, I legitimately wish I was from that country, and living there right now. As someone basically obsessed with soccer, I'm pretty sure the best place to be right now is the country that is currently housing the best team in the world. It just makes logical sense.

Spain wrecked Belgium, burying them in a 5-0 defeat. David Silva scored the 1st and 3rd, David Villa the 2nd and 5th, and Gerard Pique split the same-name powerhouses with the 3rd. The game, essentially, was beautiful. I absolutely love watching Spain play soccer because they play BEAUTIFUL soccer. Their passes are crisp and clean, always to their target. They work the ball around the entire field, switching it when necessary. The midfield controls the forwards and the defense protect Casillas. Very rarely are there errors within their plays, but when there are, Spain immediately recovers.

Today's game goes to David Silva and David Villa, who both desperately need to get out of Valencia and to a better club team. The strikers were completely on tonight on all levels of their game. Their shots were on goal constantly, and they worked with each other as well as Torres for the time he was in the game.

The starting lineup was as such: Torres and Villa commanded the striking positions. Behind them were Xavi, Busquets, Xabi Alonos, and David Silva. The backfield (who had an AMAZING game as well) consisted of Arbeloa, Puyol, Pique, and Capdevila.
Substitutions: Albert Riera for Torres (66'). Cesc for Xavi (70'). Arbeloa for Albiol (83')

The only thing that upset me about this game was that Torres had so. Many. Shots! And he couldn't capitalize on any of them! I felt bad for him because all of his shots either just wide or to the keeper. And then Del Bosque has to go and sub him for Albert Riera, who totally looks like the evil-villan version of Goob from Meet the Robinsons. I was not happy about that.

But otherwise my boys played an amazing game! If they beat Estonia on Wednesday and Turkey beats Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain will have clinched their spot at the World Cup!

Congratulations, boys!!
