Last-Minute Transfers

The transfer season is officially over for all countries across Europe, as of yesterday.
Here's a recap of some of the biggest transfers that took place this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United to Real Madrid; $131million
Kaka: AC Milan to Real Madrid; $94million
Samuel Eto'o: Barcelona to Inter Milan; Unknown
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Inter Milan to Barcelona
Andrei Arshavin: Zenit St. Petersburg to Arsenal; Undisclosed
Emmanuel Adebayor: Arsenal to Manchester City; Undisclosed
Kolo Toure: Arsenal to Manchester City; Undisclosed
Xabi Alonso: Liverpool to Real Madrid; Undisclosed
Sami Hyppia: Liverpool to Bayern Leverkusen; Free
Sylvinho: Barcelona to Manchester City; Free

I'm sure I'm missing important players, but you can get the full list of Premier League transfers here.

I was either pretty happy with or totally called the transfers that happened this summer.

Ronaldo moving to Real Madrid was obvious. He conquered everything there was to conquer in the Premier League, and I'm sure $131million did something to sweeten the deal. Except now I have to watch him play so I can write about the Real games. Not something I particularly want to do, but it comes with blogging about soccer.

Eto'o pulled the same thing Ronaldo did. He left Barcelona at it's height- he had won a treble, scored the most goals in the league, and wanted something else. I'm really sad to see him leave Barcelona because now the Trinity (Messi, Eto'o, Henry) will be no longer, but this frees up a more room for Bojan :) as well as a place for Ibrahimovic to start getting comfortable with the team.

Manchester City went totally transfer-happy this summer now that they're literally the richest team in the world, and I have little respect for anyone who went there to play this summer, including, unfortunately, my man Carlos Tevez. Manchester City wasn't a prominent player in the Premier League, but now that they can afford to pay out the butt [excuse the expression] everyone and their mother wants to go there. Adebayor left Arsenal to go there. Who does that unless they're completely motivated by money? It's sad, really.

Like I said, I'm sure I missed important transfers, but these are the big ones I felt like covering.
