CR9 Said to be Showing Human Emotions

Jorge Valdano, sporting director for Real Madrid (what exactly does that job entail?) is asking Real fans to be patient with the Portuguese striker Ronaldo, citing that he's probably suffering from nerves or the like, playing for a new team and bearing enormous expectations on his shoulders.

I can not believe I'm going to do this, but I agree with Valdano. It might not be nerves, since Ronaldo seem way too cocky and assured to be nervous, but I understand that a player needs time to adjust to a new team. Some players settle in right away (ie, Argen Robben at Bayern Munich) while others, Ronaldo, need time to acclimate to the different playing styles of the players around him.

Real has only played ONE game this season, which is my only reason for defending CR9. To expect him to come in and score two and three goals a game already is a little ridiculous. As to preseason, I have no idea how he did, but I know he didn't premier until the DC United game in late August.

Cut him some slack. When he starts diving and complaining about every call he doesn't get- which he might already do, I've yet to watch a Real game- then we know he's back to his normal self and can expect him to start exhibiting the footwork and goalscoring that made him so famous at Man U.
