Right after I posted yesterday that Atletico Madrid was negotiating with Luciano Spalletti (which every time I type reminds me of spaghetti) to be the new trainer, Atletico announced that "Quique" Sanches Flores was also being approached for the job.
According to marca.com, Spalletti had a pre-existing contract with Zenit St. Petersburg and was not available to train Atletico, so Quique was named the interim trainer. He has a contract until June 2010.
Quique, 44, has formerly trained Getafe, Valencia, and the Portuguese team Benfica.
