Laudrup Denies Atletico, Search for Trainer Continues

The big shots over at Atletico Madrid have finally (finally!) wised up and are looking for a trainer to replace Abel Resino, the current trainer.

Resino has succeeded in leading Atletico to their worst season start since 1994, and honestly I'm curious as to why he's being replaced. I mean, being the worst the club has been in 15 years has to be a feat of some sort.

Anyway, Atletico first approached Michael Laudrup. He's a Danish player who's been hailed as one of the best players in history. He played with Barcelona from 1989-1994 with the Dream Team, and then moved to Real Madrid (traitor!). Lately he's been training Russian team Spartak Moscow. Well, Laudrup said 'no' to Atletico when they offered him a training job.

Sources say the club is now in negotiations with Luciano Spalletti. He is a former trainer of AS Roma after resigning in the beginning of this season and currently without a club to train.

As negotiations continue, Resino will continue as trainer of Atletico until a replacement is found. Thank god he's being replaced. It physically hurts me to see Atletico doing this poorly, even if they're fierce competitors with Barcelona. They're a shadow of the team they were last season and I'd like to see that change.
