Now That's Dedication

Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos, known for his deadly free kicks, is offering his services to his former club Real Madrid
free of charge!!

Yes, that's correct. Carlos, who currently plays for Fenerbache in Turkey, is itching to return to Real so badly that he claims he would play for free, as he reported to As newspaper in Spain.

The striker played with Real during the height of his career, from 1996-2007 before leaving for Fenerbache.

"I would be prepared to play six months in Madrid without pay, from January to June and who knows maybe I could stay a year more," he said.

Wow. This story is definitely a huge departure from EVERYTHING that has been happening in the transfer world recently. Talk about contrast- $131mil for Ronaldo vs. NOTHING for Roberto Carlos. Granted, Carlos is 36 years old. He would probably only get six months to a year in with Real before he retired, but he wants to go out with the team closest to his heart.

If this actually happens, I can see this getting a pretty decent amount of press. Roberto Carlos is one of the great players to come out of Brazil and having him offer to play for free would be something huge.

Above is a clip of a free kick Carlos took while playing for the Brazilian national team against France in 1997. Watch through to the end because the kick blows my mind.
