2009 Ballon d'Or Contenders Revealed






The Ballon d'Or is one of the biggest accolades a player can receive. It's awarded to the best player of the year as voted by sports journalists, and organized by France Football magazine.

All of the usual suspects are present- last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, and Fernando Torres. In total there are 12 players from the Spanish Premier League(6 from Barcelona alone), 10 from the English Premier League, and 4 from Serie A, along with several other players from league scattered throughout Europe.
